More than just a switch with wires, the block is a CNC-machined and
powder-coated 6061 aluminum housing with a sealed, high-strength switch
and two sealed 2.5mm TRS jacks for connectivity and daisy-chaining. The
entire block is then potted using high-strength resin for long life and
reliability in even the harshest of conditions and abuse. Any number
of blocks may be connected to a single input device through the use of
the daisy-chained ports.
This single switch can be used for many
applications. Attached to the Stage Zero cart and wired to the MX2 it
can be used as a limit switch to shut the system down when it reaches
the end of the track. It can also be used to trigger stop motion
animation allowing the user to tap the button once to take a shot and
advance to the next position, or as a remote to start two dollies at the
exact same time. For more information on using external switches see
the MX2 documentation:
Using Remote Inputs. When connected to the MX2 on the Ext 1 port, the switch shows up as I/O line #1.
